Breaking News! Sonny is going to the Worlds!

Chadeau Moutain Clydesdales- Chuck Lewter

I hope you are starting to get interested in a few of the many Clydesale breeder, farms and ranches that will be at the 2011 World Clydesdale Show!

This lastest installment is about Chuck Lewter and his love for Clydesdales. He has always loved them and in 1995 went to a seminar that promoted and promoted participates to ride, drive, feel, touch, and learn about this great breed. Chuck was HOOKED! Mind you, he had never owned any kind of equine up to this point. He as learned many things over the past 14 years. He started out with two wealings and is now working his way up to a 4-up team.

His herd sire Robyncroft Perfect Son (Sonny) is the son of Hilmoor Fuslier and has just been named 2010 All -American Senior Stallion by the Draft Horse Journal. Chuck and Sonny have been traveling all around the United States from California to Mighigan Great Lakes International show. It has been an awesome experience!

Chadeau Mountain Clydesdales home is Tehachapi, California. Chuck is a firefighter for the Kern County Fire Department and can be seen driving his team to local businesses in the area!

Chuck and his horses will be making the trip to the worlds and is looking forward to seeing everyone at the event!
Picture of Sonny is from Chuck's collection of photos. Thank you Chuck!

Maplewinds Clydesdale are going to WCS

Pictures from Cyndi Apsey

Maplewinds Clydesdales is a family run farm. They are located in Spruce, Michigan. Everyone is involved in some way shape or form. From fixing fences to cleaning stalls everyone pitches in. Their show partners are Praireview Clydesdales. They just started showing last year. They feel very fortunate to have met Tony, Deb, Jerry and Joe Wilcenski. They took a leap of faith and became partners. They do a great job of showing the horses. This year has been a very successful show season.

Cyndi Apsey and her family got interested in Clydesdale's after going to an auction to get a wagon for their light driving horse. They saw several drafts for sale there and they came home and started looking at all the different breeds. They decided on Clydesdale because they loved their personality, grace and style. The family has been involved with Clydesdale for the past 14 years. Maplewinds currently has about 30 drafts on their farm. 10 mares, several foals and more geldings, plus two stallions SBH Sultan and City Knight owned by Paulette Galop.

With the Wilcenski family they will be bring 5 horses to show in Halter, line classes. The stock is young but a goal for the future is showing in the hitch classes.

When Maplewinds is not showing, they enjoy just being around the horses. They love being surrounded by these wonderful horses.

They would like to encourage everyone to take the time to come out and visit all the Clydesdales and farms that will be at the world show!

WCS Sponsorship Challenge - Are You Ready?

The 2011 World Clydesdale Show is rapidly approaching - and with it, the opportunity to play an integral and valued role, by being a proud supporter of what we hope will be the largest Clydesdale event ever. And if you are a lifetime member of the Clydesdale Breeders of the U.S.A. (or want to become one), there's another special bonus opportunity waiting for you!
The 'bonus' comes in thanks to a special challenge by longtime Clydesdale Breeders of the U.S.A. member, and breed supporter, Dr. Jeff Gower. But it's not just any bonus - it's a bonus that will help reward supporters while simultaneously promoting the Clydesdale breed!

"The 2011 World Clydesdale Show is the biggest platform we have to promote and extend the Clydesdale breed. I personally challenge every Clydesdale breeder to step up and help financially support it, and make it the crown jewel of equine events - of any breed. Together, we can make this the single biggest Clydesdale event ever - and truly take the breed that we all know and love to the next level!" - Dr. Jeff Gower

Dr. Gower has graciously offered to provide to those making qualified donations to the 2011 World Clydesdale Show with the gift of a Clydesdale horse from his own personal Soaring Eagle Farms herd. Details are as follows:

- Any lifetime member of the C.B.U.S.A. making a $7,500+ donation to the 2011 World Clydesdale Show may come to Dr. Gower's farm and pick a weanling or yearling Clydesdale (first come first serve)

- Any lifetime member of the C.B.U.S.A. making a $12,500+ donation to the 2011 World Clydesdale Show may come to Dr. Gower's farm and pick out a two-year old or younger Clydesdale (first come first serve)

- Any lifetime member of the C.B.U.S.A. making a $15,000+ donation to the 2011 World Clydesdale Show may come to Dr. Gower's farm and pick out a mare (in foal) or younger Clydesdale yearling or weanling

This offering of quality Clydesdales is based strictly on a first come first serve condition and is subject to availability (numbers are limited). Horses may be selected, removed from Dr. Gower's farm, and ownership transferred only after indicated level of donation to the 2011 World Clydesdale Show has been received by the Clydesdale Breeders of the U.S.A.

Think this offer is too good to be true? Well, hold on because there's more! Lifetime C.B.U.S.A. members who make a qualified donation and choose a Clydesdale (weanling, yearling or two-year old) as indicated above from Dr. Gower's herd, and then exhibit it at the 2011 World Clydesdale Show and win Junior Champion Stallion or Filly, will receive a $10,000 bonus paid by Dr. Gower!

This is a one-of-kind opportunity never offered before! The Clydesdale Breeders of the U.S.A. offer infinite thanks to Dr. Gower for his generosity. For breeders, it's an opportunity to step up and support the World Clydesdale Show like never before. The C.B.U.S.A. looks forward to working with breeders and Dr. Gower to make this opportunity a win win for all. For more information on the program, phone the Clydesdale office at (815) 247-8780 or reply to this email.

2011 World Clydesdale Show Returns to Madison, WI!

It's official! The 2011 World Clydesdale Show will return to Madison, Wisconsin in October of 2011. It will be the second consecutive World Clydesdale Show to be held in Madison.

2007 of course was the first World Clydesdale Show to be held in the U.S. in over 100 years. Known as the "Olympics" of our breed, the event is planned to occur every four years. The 2007 event in Madison was highly successful, hosting over 600 of the very best Clydesdales from around the world, and nearly 15,000 spectators. By once again choosing Madison as the host city, the goal is to build on the established momentum 2007 provided with breeders, residents, partners, media and other key influencers.

The venue for the 2011 World Clydesdale Show will once again be the Alliant Energy Center. Dates for the event will be October 20-23, which include an additional day of competition from the last World Show's schedule.

For young and old alike, the World Clydesdale Show offers edge-of-the seat entertainment with wall-to-wall Clydesdale action. See this magnificent breed up close and personal in the barns, and then experience the thunderous roar of an eight-horse Clydesdale hitch coming down the runway and into the arena! Seminars, vendors, and other exciting entertainment & exhibitions will also be part of what plans to be the biggest event the Clydesdale breed has ever seen!

When 600 Clydesdales from around the world converge on Madison, the earth will shake and audiences will erupt. Will you be there?
